First post here...
I have been having an issue with my setup, but I cannot figure out what is causing the problem. Here is the description.
I install Ubuntu 12.10 64, get all the updates, install my Nvidia GT 620 drivers, ceton card drivers, mythtv 0.26 thru PPAs, apache2, and mythplugins. Finally I add xbmc 12 with PVR support.
After configuring everything thru the Myth Backend Setup I can watch live tv, recordings and pretty much everything works great. The most important thing for me is that channel changing takes merely 3-4 secconds which is very acceptable.
After a reboot or two (typically due to a crash in the OS) something happens which has the following effects:
1. Cannot get back into the Myth Backend Setup GUI... it simply gets stuck on a black terminal window which does nothing.
2. Changing channels take about 30 seconds in XBMC, and in Myth Frontend it basically times out.
I have checked the load on the CPUs (Intel Core 2 Quad @ 3.6GHz) and memmory 8GBs and nothing seems to be even higher than 30%. My live tv recordings go to a dedicated SSD with plenty of room. My recordings go to a separate drive as well.
I have had the same problem 3 or 4 times after fresh installs. I am not sure if something Ubuntu after it crashes corrupts something in the database or somewhere else.
I have ran the repair and optimize scripts in mythweb with no success.
