    I need assistance figuring something out... I'm running Ubuntu 10.04, I have tried using mercurial and the newer v4l-dvb stuff, but that didn't help.

    I have added two Hauppauge HVR-1250's to my Mythbackend to catch OTA broadcasts. I cannot get both of the cards to work together, but each works fine on it's own. Both cards are exactly identical, both work fine in either PCIe slot that I have them in, but when I put both cards in the system only the first one to be seen is initialized properly.

    In order to get the system to see it right, I have to make a /etc/modprobe.d/cx23885.conf

    Now, I think it has something to do with this file. Somehow I think I need to tell it that the second card is also a type 20. The line I have in there right now is this:

    options cx23885 adapter_nr=0,1 card=20

    The first thing that I got to work was this:

    options cx23885 card=20

    But I have been experimenting and trying to find out some way of telling it to use that card=20 for the second card as well.

    My dmesg related output is as follows:

    On the first card (the one that is found ok)

    Code:

    I figured this out for anyone needing help with this. Apparently the drivers cannot handle more than one card unless it is autodetected. There is nothing you can put in the stupid modprobe.d file that will make this work.

    So, Instead I grabbed the newest v4l-dvb files, and then fixed the detection of my cards. I found that in this file:
    ~/v4l_source/v4l-dvb/linux/drivers/media/video/cx23885/cx23885-cards.c
    It is autodetecting the cards based on the pci id info. I'm not a programmer and I'm sure this will break a real 1255 from working, but.... it works for me.

    I opened up that file and found this (around line 411):
    .subvendor = 0x0070,
    .subdevice = 0x2251,
    .card = CX23885_BOARD_HAUPPAUGE_HVR1255,

    The device ID for my card is 2259, not 2251. So I changed it and then compiled and installed everything according to the normal instructions.... voila, it works fine now.

    For anyone else doing this, note that at the time of this writing the firedtv stuff doesn't compile in v4l-dvb, so I opened the .config file and set it from modular to no. this file is here: ~/v4l_source/v4l-dvb/v4l/.config

    The line your looking for is this:
    CONFIG_DVB_FIREDTV=m

    just change the m to a n, and it'll stop trying to compile firedtv (whatever the hell that is)

    Hope this helps someone.

    I joined this forum just to say THANK YOU!

    I have a card 3 and a card 20 and was pulling my hair out trying to get both to work.
