Serious issues finishing my install with HVR-950Q and NTSC Support –
03-15-2010,05:54 PM I am totally new to this thread, so would really like a response before I put too much effort in this as I am soooo exhausted, and believe me when I say ANY help would be very much appreciated.
I seemingly have successfuly installed the driver for the Haauppauge hvr-950q, theMySQL database, the MythTV Backend and Frontend also seem to be installed with most errors fixed.
But still I have had no success getting a TV picture through my HVR-950Q and my Analog NTSC Canadian cable (its the only source I have), and any software especially MythTV, though it totally sees the card! Any troubleshooting tips would be much appreciated!

03-15-2010,06:45 PM OK 2 view already, some optimism
. To be a bit more informative from my side I would also like to as some specific installation questions.
1/ I can't get a successful scan for channels with MythTV or presumably also can't do something called initially populate my channel file,
2/ I chose for Default Input: television, though there were 2 other choices /s-video/composite ?? I chose TV, Is that right???
3/ VBI Device is blank; Should I fill it with anything (nothing to select), and what is it?
4/ When I select "Watch TV" it says please wait in a black screen, then after 5-10 seconds it goes back to the menu, hmmmmm??? What should I try next????
5/ there is only one error when I run the backend: "Card 1 (type Television) is set to start on channel Please add, which does not exist.", it seems elf explanatory but I don't know how to solve it.
Thanks again at least for viewing. going bugeyed
, Mark

03-15-2010,07:24 PM OK so now after rebooting I have a few problems:
1/ mythbackend won't remain started, though in system services runlevel it is enabled,
- as you can see below with the "mythbackend" command I have a few errors, and with the "/etc/init.d/mythbackend start" command it starts and stops within 2-3 seconds i.e. won't remain on???? Any ideas?
2/ and after a reboot a lot of the changes I made were lost ex/ my storage assignments, and others that don't come to mind right now.
3/ a unrelated question is,...What choose for VBI input, intuitively I choose "NTSC Closed Caption", PAL is not right but maybe I should choose "none"
Can someone at least point me in the right direction?
