    Folks,

I am trying to spec my first HTPC. It will be a MythTV system (I will probably install on top of Xubuntu). I already have a WinTV NOVA TD-500 card (acquired through the family) so that's Freeview covered (I am UK based). I was thinking I would also get a DVB-S (or S2) card so that I can get FreeSat as well.

Does that mean I will have to use two separate remotes (the ones that come with the cards) to control my system?

The IR receiver hardware may be associated with a particular capture card, but the software isn't. Pick one, and it'll control all of mythtv. You can stick the other one in the box of miscellaneous cables that you'll never use.
