Thread: pchdtv 5500 in myth - channels scan fine, can't watch tv

Hello. i have a p4, 2.8ghz, 512mb sony vaio computer with a pchdtv 5500 and i'm using ubuntu 6.10 (edgy eft). I got the install going just fine. My problem is that even though my digital tuner card is detected and recognized and even though i can scan for channels, and it detects a bunch of channels and their names (cbs, nbc, etc), when i go to watch tv or record, it doesn't work.



I have time warner digital cable in southern california.

Does anyone have any tips or pointers?

well, when i go to the live tv, nothing shows up on the screen. It's just black.

when i go into the guide, i see channels labeld: 116#1, 116#2, 116#3, 118#1, 118#2, and many more. (when i was scanning for channels, using cable and qam-256, it "locked" onto these channels and added them into the db.) When i try to change channels to one of the many channels, nothing happens. No error or anything. It's as if i didn't press enter to change to that channel.

my zap2it account is set to digital cable and I downloaded the program guide info, then restarted both the backend and the frontend, but nothing shows up in the guide, just unknown for every channel.

Looking at the terminal from where i started mythfrontend, i just see a bunch of lines that say prebuffering pause every few seconds.
