SVN is the common name given to Subversion in reference to the name of its command line interface.
Subversion is an open source application used for revision control and is designed specifically to be a modern replacement for CVS and shares a number of the same key developers.
WARNING: If you are going to use Subversion builds on your machine, please understand that you are venturing into the waters of alpha testing, and be prepared to cope with the more stringent expectations that will be placed upon you.

And make sure to backup your database before installing a newer version from the subversion as it is impossible to revert to your previous version/install shouldn't you wanted to!
