Thread: Looking for MythMe alpha testers

Hi guys,

I started developing a MythMe application, which browses your recordings and compares them with recordings from other users, in order to make suggestions on shows which may be interresting for you (because other users similar to you recorded them). You might know this behaviour from several online shops or commercial digital video recorders.

All data is absolutely anonymous, and everything you get at the current state is a text-based suggestion at command line. In the next version, this data will be used to mark recordings according to your EPG with different priority.

It would be really nice if some of you would test the script and post the results here. With more and more users participating, the results might get better and better.

In order to run the script, the following additional perl modules are required:
* Data::GUID
* SOAP::Lite

You can install these modules using "cpan -i <modulname>". Download the script from http://www.andreas-fey.com/downloads/mythme.txt, rename it to mythme.pl and execute (perl mythme.pl).

I would love to help, but what if you have recordings you don't want to post (in a group for example)

I understand your question, but because in the current version _all_ shows are used for recommendation, even 'special' ones are used; ususally, this should not be a problem, but if you wand to exclude any show at this state, you might just change the SQL statement in line 60 if the script by filtering out some sort of shows:

"SELECT * FROM recorded WHERE title <> 'Some adult movie title'"

Can you please verify that you use version 0.2 of the Script (see the declarations on top of the file)? Which Mythtv-Version are you using?

You should put a version number in the file itself, as a comment. The new version does this:

thanks for your responses, I modified the script a bit to print out a more understandable message.

In your case(s), MythMe has currently no recommondations - just to few data from the US; please stay in touch and start the script once a day or so. If more and more users will come, you also will get some nice recommondations

Also, if you all want to let the script insert the recommondations, just uncomment lines 108-112 - that's also new in the current version 0.3.

Recommondations are calculated by first calculating weights for a show by all users, based on their record priority.
If one user sends his recordings, he gets back all shows with a special weight minimum from users which have some equal recordings like the current one. I'm doing fine-tuning of these parameters, if enough data has arrived. Some sort of chicken-egg problem
