Thread: How good is UK TV guide data?

Hi,
I'm considering replacing my UK Thompson Tivo for a MythTV system
sometime in the future.
At present I pay £10 per month for my Tivo subscription which essentially gets me the guide data, I find it pretty good.

One thing that concerns me is the TV guide data for MythTV. What system would it use in the UK, how good is the data.

You have two choices for UK TV guide data:

1. Use an XMLTV-based grabber (tv_grab_uk_rt) which uses the Radio Times website or
2. Use a DVB-T (Freeview) tuner card and grab the over-the-air EPG.

Both methods are very reliable unless the programme start/end times change.

From what I've read about the Tivo guide, it's not updated as frequently as either the RadioTimes or DVB guide, so you'd be getting a more up to date guide - for free

Yeah the UKRT guide data fills the screen. It can be a little bit much sometimes...

Ohh, I don't know. I rather like having an independent review of things to help me to decide whether to watch them or not :-)
