I might dual boot my media centre with Vista and Linux. Vista will be used for games what makes use of a high end graphics card like the 7900 and linux will be running mythtv.

    The 7900 features this:
"The GeForce 7900 GS also delivers smooth, high-definition video playback and crisp picture quality thanks to its advanced NVIDIA® PureVideo™ technology."

    I have two questions:

As the linux drivers are available on nVidias website for the 7900 graphic cards does this mean Linux and MythTV can make use of Pure Video technology?

Are there any quality differences in video playback between using a 5200 and a 7900 with Linux and MythTV?

Purevideo is not yet supported in Linux.

Talk to the hand, etc etc etc

And sometimes your pc will make a good dvr, the rest of the time it's gonna be a games machine. Take my advice - make a seperate backend machine & dual-boot your frontend with Vista (blech).

Imagine not being able to play a game because you can't reboot, because you're recording your favourite show.. that'd stink.

anyway that's enough swearing for one day from me. Maybe I should add Vista to the %badword% filters

    I'm gone baby.
