Getting Wireless Working. –
05-23-2007,05:37 AM I have spent the last 3 days attempting to get the wireless working.
I have am running FC6
I have a Broadcom BCM94306 or bcm4306 from Dell.
The machine at start up says [failed]
I believe the card is a dell 1150 mini pci
In network settings gui the card is there bun it says inactive.
I have read every tutorial I can find and none of them allow me to see scan for my wireless router.
Please help.

05-23-2007,06:11 AM This is not a topic for the MythTV forum.
Try googling for a more appropriate forum.

05-23-2007,06:17 AM Now why would you say that.
I cannot get my laptop frontend working with wireless so that I can have access to my movies and live tv.
Of course it is a MythTV issue.. Maybe not directly but to get Myth working correctly I need to have the wireless working.
I have spent days googling to fix this to no avail.

05-23-2007,08:29 AM Not really a mythtv issue, but I know how frustrating this can be.
In ubuntu I just needed to get a package called bcm43xx-fwcutter, but it may be different in Fedora.
That should download/install(cut?) the firmware for your card. For me I just installed the package, restarted and then all was working (Ubuntu Feisty/7.10)
Hope that helps

And Where should I get them from?

05-23-2007,10:45 AM Try using google, a simply search for "fedora fc6 forum" will show you!
This is a forum for MythTV not a forum for distribution specific problems.

05-23-2007,01:28 PM Well Ubuntu did all that for me.... I just had to apt-get it, was all downloaded/configured automatically.
I think you need a driver for your card, or for your chipset.
Try a Fedora specific forum, as they are much more likely to know the specifics of your distribution.

05-23-2007,10:03 PM After days of messing with it I realized that the card I was using was not a 1300 but a 1150 which is not supported. I ended up swapping to the 1450 which is supported and was able to cut the driver and make it work.
It was hard to get it to make a stable connection but after 10 hours of messing with settings I finally found the correct combination..
Thanks for the help..
