Thread: Frontend can't find Backend

I'm running a mythbuntu installed backend, and connecting various Macs, namely a mac mini running the compiled frontend. And not only will it not connect using uPnP, if I enter in the IP (192.168.1.113 set in backend general setup), double check password and port, it still cannot find it. They are on the same LAN, mini on WiFi, server on wired.

Interestingly enough I can use mythweb on the mini and that works fine. I've looked all through mythbuntu and cannot find any firewall settings. I'm assuming since it is made for myth the ports would be open.

I've heard some rumblings about MySQL password issues, and am thinking about a fresh install tonight, maybe switching to Mythdora or KnopMyth but couldn't find .22 versions. Any ideas?

take a look at your frontend logs. Not sure where these are on a mac. That should tell you the problem it is having connecting. What is the error message you get?

Well after 2 days of fussing, and having edited nothing. it just started working. Will see how long this lasts.
