Sound issues

The sound on my recordings has a strange echoish feel to them. Like a mp3 encoded in 24kbit and lots of chorus and flanger... I can't seem to find out why the sound gets like this. I record in mp3 44100Hz. (Isn't it possible to use other sound encoders? Like ogg or flac?)

I've had simular issues with using alsa if not setup correctly. What sound card are you using. Are you using OSS or ALSA?

I'm using onboard nForce2 audio.

I had issues with the same driver the Intel8x0 driver is used on all NForce and Nforce2's for Integrated Sound.

First Verify that your ALSA settings are correct.
Compair your .asoundrc with the one at the site below, it fixed my problem

I had the same sort of problem with sounds. I'm using the onboard Nvidia hardware for sound.

I used the KDEmixer program and fiddled with it's options until I got the sound OK.

I found the KDEmixer not very intuitive, but by turning differerent options on & off, and adjusting the sliders, I got a sound I was satisfied with - not very scientific, but it works.
