| After a fresh install and struggling few a few distros not playing well with some of my hardware (mythdora, fedora 6, mandriva 2007) I've finally got everyone going (back on mandriva 2006, same as my old setup so I'm very familiar), except for the tuner cards. I first tried to install my Kworld ATSC 110 by following the exact instructions on here www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Kworld_ATSC_110 My kernel version is 2.6.12. One snag I had was doing the perl get_dvb_firmware nxt2004 to get the firmware. It just hangs.....maybe the avermedia site it tries to get it from is down or the file has suddenly changed? I found an rpm with the firmware that I installed to (I think ) solve that problem........ However, when I do # modprobe saa7134-dvb I get this error: WARNING: Error inserting ir-kbd-i2c (/lib/modules/2.6.12-12mdksmp/kernel/drivers/media/video/ir-kbd-i2c.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) dmesg gives me an error with ir_codes_pv951. mythtv-setup finds the card as a saa7134. I tried to set it up under there as apcHDT card (is that right?) but I get now channels when I scan. I can pick up a dozen or so over the air HD channels perfectly with my antenna attatched to my TV...... When I do a mplayer /dev/video0 I get something like static - pink with flecks of gray static. So I gave up with that and start I'd move on to installing the Hauppage card, which I had absolutely no trouble with on my old setup using the same distro. I followed the instructions given here: ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Howto Went off with no errors and mythtv-setup finds it, however when I scan for channels I get nothing. mplayer /dev/video1 gives me pure static, even if I switch channels using ivtv-tune, everything is static. Not sure where to go from here......any help would be appreciated |

I'm using the same ATSC-110 card and it was a bit trying to get it to work, but I finally got it. I'm getting OTA 8VSB HDTV and have it set it up as a "DVB DTV capture card" (may have the wording wrong on that). You may have some issues if you want to use the analog TV or S-Video and Composite inputs in .20 though - some fixes for configuring the analog side of the card were made more recently. Try both antenna inputs too, I can't remember which one I'm using. For the analog side, I set it up as a "V4L Analog card" (or whatever the exact wording is). So in my system I have the same card defined twice. Once as a "DVB DTV" card and once as a "V4L Analog" card. I haven't played around with the analog side of it enough to know if I did this right... Does the module load OK even with the ir-kbd-i2c error? When you access the card (like to scan channels) dmesg should also show it attempting to upload the firmware, plus a confirmation message that it uploaded. |

I don't think it's loading the saa7134-dvb at all. Here's the full error in dmesg when I try to load it: ir_kbd_i2c: Unknown symbol ir_codes_pv951 I try setting it up as a DVB DTV card in mythtv-setup and I get a "file not found", no matter what "card number" I have it set as. When trying to scan for channels I get nothing in dmesg either. I really have no interest in using the analog side of it, so I'm not going to worry about that. Here's the complete relevant section of dmesg, looks like some errors loading ivtv and the Kworld card is just loaded as saa7133, UNKNOWN/GENERIC. saa7130/34: v4l2 driver version 0.2.12 loaded ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:02:00.0[A] -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16 saa7133[0]: found at 0000:02:00.0, rev: 240, irq: 16, latency: 64, mmio: 0xfeaff800 saa7133[0]: subsystem: 17de:7350, board: UNKNOWN/GENERIC [card=0,autodetected] saa7133[0]: board init: gpio is 100 saa7133[0]: dsp access wait timeout [bit=WRR] saa7133[0]: dsp access wait timeout [bit=WRR] saa7133[0]: i2c eeprom 00: de 17 50 73 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff saa7133[0]: i2c eeprom 10: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff saa7133[0]: i2c eeprom 20: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff saa7133[0]: i2c eeprom 30: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff saa7133[0]: registered device video0 [v4l2] saa7133[0]: registered device vbi0 ivtv: ==================== START INIT IVTV ==================== ivtv: version 0.4.9 (tagged release) loading ivtv: Linux version: 2.6.12-12mdksmp SMP 686 gcc-4.0 ivtv: In case of problems please include the debug info between ivtv: the START INIT IVTV and END INIT IVTV lines, along with ivtv: any module options, when mailing the ivtv-users mailinglist. ivtv0: Autodetected WinTV PVR 250 card (cx23416 based) ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:02:01.0[A] -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 17 tveeprom: ivtv version tveeprom: Hauppauge: model = 32062, rev = C1B2, serial# = 8640626 tveeprom: tuner = TCL M2523_5N_E (idx = 112, type = 50) tveeprom: tuner fmt = NTSC(M) (eeprom = 0x08, v4l2 = 0x00001000) tveeprom: audio processor = MSP3445 (type = c) tveeprom: decoder processor = SAA7115 (type = 13) ivtv0: i2c attach to card #0 ok [client=tveeprom, addr=50] tuner: Unknown symbol v4l_printk_ioctl ivtv0: Failed to load module tuner saa7115 1-0021: ivtv driver saa7115 1-0021: saa7115 found @ 0x42 (ivtv i2c driver #0) ivtv0: i2c attach to card #0 ok [client=saa7115, addr=21] msp3400: Unknown symbol v4l2_ctrl_query_fill_std msp3400: Unknown symbol v4l_printk_ioctl ivtv0: Failed to load module msp3400 ivtv0: loaded v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw firmware (262144 bytes) ivtv0: Encoder revision: 0x02050032 ivtv0: Allocate DMA encoder MPEG stream: 128 x 32768 buffers (4096KB total) ivtv0: Allocate DMA encoder YUV stream: 194 x 10800 buffers (2048KB total) ivtv0: Allocate DMA encoder VBI stream: 120 x 17472 buffers (2048KB total) ivtv0: Allocate DMA encoder PCM audio stream: 455 x 4608 buffers (2048KB total) ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x00 not found for command 0x40047401! ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x40 not found for command 0x40086d11! ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x40 not found for command 0x80287610! ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x40 not found for command 0x40287611! ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x00 not found for command 0x40085618! ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x40 not found for command 0x40085618! ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x40 not found for command 0x80287610! ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x40 not found for command 0x40287611! ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x00 not found for command 0x402c5639! ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x40 not found for command 0x402c5639! ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x40 not found for command 0x80287610! ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x40 not found for command 0x40287611! ivtv0: Initialized WinTV PVR 250, card #0 ivtv: ==================== END INIT IVTV ==================== This is what I get in dmesg when I scan for channels with the PVR 250 card: ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x40 not found for command 0x80287610! ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x40 not found for command 0x40287611! ivtv0 warning: i2c client addr: 0x00 not found for command 0x402c5639! and so on........ Thanks for the help. Haven't had a chance to work on this because my internet has been down at home lately.....undependable comcast. You can look in your sources directory for a file called ../Documentation/video4linux/CARDLIST.saa7134 You should see a line that says Kworld-ATSC 110 it's tuner number 90 0r 91. If you don't have this, your kernel doesn't support this card. You'll then have to upgrade your kernel. |

Thanks a lot! This community is always so helpful. The Kworld card wasn't on the list, so I upgraded the kernel and now both the saa7134-dvb and PVR card are detected. The PVR card is working perfectly but I still have some issues with the Kworld card. Setting it up as a "DVB DTV card" I can scan for channels under mythtv-setup, but none get foundare found. The signal meter does change as it scans, and some seem to have a great signal, but I get a "Timeout - no signal found" for each channel anyway. I've tried attatching my antenna to both the upper and lower connector on the card with the same result. |

As root #chmod -R 777 /dev/dvb/adapter0 Then try a scan. Are you in the US? Are you trying QAM or OTA? |
