Default Kworld ATSC 115 Remote

The Kworld ATSC 115 comes with a remote. Will that work with Myth? It doesn't look that great (I don't see skip forward or back buttons), but since I'll have it, is it possible to use and worth the effort if so?

According to Edit 3 of the mythwiki a kernel patch can be applied to make it work.

I'm a little wary of doing a kernel patch. Would the updates that Ubuntu does ever update the kernel and wipe out the patch? I actually just realized that the patch is just to make the receiver that comes with the Kworld 115 work. If you have a supported IR receiver apparently any remote can be used.

Is there any cheap/recommended remote?
May be this one?

You first need to figure out which "IR Receiver" you are going to use. For most, I would think, that means a Homebrew IR Receiver. Either made by yourself or purchased. I haven't been looking for an IR Receiver for a long time, so, they're may be commercial options available? Then just pick a remote that works for you. You may want to find a ready made lirc config online for a remote and try to get that remote. For instance, I use one of the Hauppauge Remotes lirc config files. And I don't use any Hauppauge Tuner cards at all. I just use the config with a remote that mimicks the corresponding Hauppauge Tuner in conjunction with a homebrew IR Receiver. This is what Lido was referrencing.

Thanks, artebonz.
The problem is i don't have any IR receiver to start with. Home brew is not an option (for me). I was hoping that those ready made package would work out of the box, like the http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...C-PRICEGRABBER

or some cheap looking one on ebay.

Or just get a bluetooth usb dongle and use wiimote (that already have) ?

I have two KWORD 115 cards which come with ir receivers I don't plan on using, but I think the receiver hardware is on the card so the IR "eye" on the wire would be useless without the card (I'm speculating of course). The IR receiver I intend to use is the one that's built into the Antec Fusion case I have. That supposedly works.

Look in the reviews for that one... someone said it was NOT compatible with Linux/MythTV due to the hardware being different than the standard MCE remote.

I have the ATSC 115 card and have had no luck getting the IR receiver/remote to work. I am also looking for a new IR/remote solution now.
