Choosing and help with a software encoder?

i wanted to save some money and get a software encoder, and was hoping someone could tell me how to get the best possible quality from a software encoder?

Could anyone plz tell me if any of these tv tuner cards work on mythtv also?

Yes, I have this card working. I'm not sure I would bother building a MythTV box with this card, though, because the video capture isn't very good. Well, I'm comparing it to my Hauppauge PVR-150, though, which has hardware-based MPEG2-encoding.

Anyway, if anyone is interested in what it takes to get Kworld Studio Terminator working, post to this thread and we'll get some discussions started.

I have 2 of these cards -- one running under Ubuntu 5.04 and one under FC3.
Both systems are running MythTV and TVTime successfully.

I was about to buy one, and got scared because i could find no details on running this card in mythtv....
