Default Record show while watching it

I've run into something that I'm hoping is just sheer stupidity, but I'm at a loss. If I'm watching a show on live TV how can I record it? When I hit record it does absolutely nothing, if I go into the guide and set it to record there it always shows as aborted immediately after I schedule it. The only way I've found is to schedule the recording to start AFTER the current time, which obviously doesn't capture anything in the buffer etc. Can Myth not record a show while it's being watched, that wasn't previously scheduled to record?
Tom

Odd. pressing record works for me on liveTV (the 'r' key). What do your logs say when you do this?

I'll try it tonight with the keyboard and let you know if it makes a difference, if not what logs do you want to see?

Works from the remote to, but my remote key is bound to the 'r' key.

I think the frontend and backend logs will help. Maybe something will pop up...

Finally got a chance to test hitting 'r' on keyboard, that records fine, so stupid remote isn't mapping the record button to 'r'. What's the best way to fix this?

make sure you have a section somewhere in your /home/user/.mythtv/lircrc file (where user is whatever user is running mythfrontend) that looks like this:
Code:
begin
  prog = mythtv
  button = record
  config = R
end
where "record" is whatever button you want to record with. What remote are you using? If you have problems, post your lircd.conf and .lircrc and I *should* be able to fix it.
