Default MythDVD/Video SPDIF 2-channel only audio

OK, I've got a weird set-up - I need to have my Digital TV and MythDVD pass 2 channel audio only to my stereo system. I don't have surround.

There are many posts about getting AC3 pass through to work - but none I can find to get it to NOT work.

I know the AC3 works, because I've tried it on a system with Dolby/surround. MythVideo works for programs I've recorded in Standard Definition.

So - if say, "-ac hwac3" passes the command to turn it on - or aid=128 is the 5.1 stream - where or what is the command to make sure mplayer & mythdvd/video play 2 channel audio only?

"-channels 2" doesn't seem to work...

thanks in advance for any help!!
