Default Toggle video via lirc?

Right now I am just using a computer monitor plugged into the onboard video on my motherboard. Is there a way to make the power button on the remote toggle the vga out? I think it would be a good way to put the monitor into standby as opposed to having to get up and turn the monitor off each time.

Thanks in advance.

This could be a begining:

I know there is a command line option you can use to put the monitor in standby mode. But I can't remember what it is.

To execute remote command with lircd, you could use "irexec". This is a daemon compatible with lirc that can call any script at the touch of a button. In my case, when my computer boots, I start irexec using "irexec -d /home/bob/.lircrc". I added two lines in my lircd configuration for irexec, one to start the frontend, one to emulate the press of the ESC key (this way the EXIT button of the remote works for games and emulator). My .lircrc config is included here:

#####################
# Config irexec
#####################
begin
prog = irexec
button = Back/Exit
config = xmacroplay :0 < /home/bob/irexec_script/xmacro_Escape
end
begin
prog = irexec
button = Power
config = /home/bob/set_Mythfrontend.sh
end

In your case, in the config of the Power button, you could replace the line "config = /home/bob/set_Mythfrontend.sh" by "config = /home/bob/unknown_command_to_enable_disable_monitor_stanby"

Hope this helps
