Should there be a dev section on the forum?

Just a quick show of hands to see if we can get some budding devs to come out of the paint work!!

This would be an area for the wanna-be devs and the full on devs to exchange ideas, concepts and knowledge to further the plugins and features that we currently have.

I didn't think it was such a good idea at first but I've warmed to it.

It'll be nice to have a free forum to discuss & exchange ideas outside of the regular mythtv dev list (which is mostly populated by backseat devs & anybody with an opinion IMHO).

It'd also be great to have a place to discuss coding issues, ask advice of more experienced coders to learn about things we want to do too, I think.

My only reservation about this idea is that it might rapidly descend into a quagmire of feature requests few people will be interested in picking up (see the mythtv wiki's feature requests section to see what I mean).

We could always have one thread for feature requests.

I would also be interested in having a thread for themes too, what do you think?

Theme development is development. Don't expect me to always be around to answer theming questions though :P

besides I've always thought it's nice to keep theme development the way it is - a bit of a closed shop. Why? Take a look at winamp and its skins. Try to find a good skin out of the thousands there are out there. I wouldn't want that to happen with mythtv themes!

I didn't mean that we would have thousands of themes going. It would be nice to post ideas and see what people think and get some feed back before a theme is finished. I know you don't need any help with themes, but there are other people like myself that would benefit from help from others.
