I am running Mythbuntu 12.04 with Mythtv .25 BE and FE. Infinitv linux drivers are installed, I can tune a channel manually using the InfiniTV web interface + mplayer. When I select "Watch TV" in mythfrontend, it freezes the entire computer so I can't even get a log. It will also freeze the computer if I schedule a recording, either through mythfrontend or from mythweb. I can play a video file through FE just fine, just not livetv.

My tuner is setup in BE to 192.168.200.1 (default address for InfiniTV device) using RTP and tuner 0. I'm using SchedulesDirect as an input source and it has done a full grab via mythfilldatabase. Has anyone successfully gotten the InfiniTV 4 working in .25? Could this possibly be an encoding problem? I looked through the encode settings for a little bit but didn't see anything that would pose a problem.

All my computers were running X/Ubuntu 11.04. So I decided to reinstall to 12.04. I installed MythTV via the 'Ubuntu Software Centre'.
Previously MythTV had worked very well. I got the HD to work excellently with my 1080p LCD TV which is driven by an Acer Revo 3610. After updating my Acer & my server, which runs the MythBackend, the performance is terrible!
The HD video is way out of sync with the sound & the video judders. Even standard definition is not all that good.
On my desktop PC the Video is fine, with the video setting set to 'Normal' as this has AMD Radeon Graphics.

Further, and this is the same on my Desktop PC, the sound stops and then loud white noise replaces it, just like the white noise on the sound test. Sometimes this cuts in on its own but it can be triggered by moving the playback back or forward. I am using the Pulse Audio setting.
On my Revo I am using the Nvidia driver. I have tried all settings for video playback but have left it on 'VDPAU Slim' because that is was what I had on the previous installation (Ubuntu 11.04 with the previous version of MythTV)
Can anyone advise please as to what is causing these problems?

MythTV Backend Not Recognizing USB Penstick Tuner on Startup (Model 800e)

When the system starts for the first time (whether by a restart or by a fresh boot after being shutdown), the mythtv backend for some reason will not recognize one of my tvtuner cards: it is a Pinnacle Systems HDTV USB penstick, model 800e.

I currently have two tvtuners in the system, my other is a Pinnacle Systems PCI 800i. I have tried removing the 800i, but that doesn't seem to affect the backend's ability to recognize the USB penstick.

The weird thing is that after I boot up, I can restart the backend and mythtv will see the USB penstick just fine. The problem is that when I am not home and need to have the system automatically record something, the system will automatically wake itself up as expected, but since the USB penstick does not automatically initialize on this first boot, the recording fails.

So at this point I am stuck. My hunch is that the backend is starting up before the USB penstick is initialized by Ubuntu, but I really don't know and I'm really not sure where or how to investigate the problem. I'm not really an expert, but I can find my way around linux (been using mythtv for about 6 years now) . . . so if someone has suggestions, or needs more information, just let me know and I'll post back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm running mythdora 64-bit 12.04 mythtv 0.25 on an AMD 64 bit system.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Please bear with me this is my first attempt at using mythtv im in the UK and trying to use the Freesat service

Im running a Hauppage Nova HD-S2 on linux mint 12

ive installed kaffeine and i can scan and watch channels with no issues.

ive installed mythtv version 0.24.1-80-g1de0431 from the software centre and followed through all the instructions I can online.

when i goto input connection, and scan for channels I always get failed to find any new channels!

Ive followed the instructions at http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.ph...are_v1.26.90.0 but again this makes no difference (Kaffeine works before and after) and confirmed the card is using 1.26.90.0

if i run dmesg|grep cx I get

Hi,

Not sure whether my search terms were poor, but couldn't find anything exactly on these lines -- but apologies if this has been discussed previously.

I'm looking to configure a myth front-end & back-end, the former being a SFF/Nettop with a USB DVB-T2 tuner and the latter being a current file-server (with some web bits and bobs also running on it).

Basically, I'm wanting to know whether I'll be able to use the back-end file server to pause/record TV from my front-end? My back-end only has a 100Mb ethernet adapter, so a bit scuppered in terms of network bandwidth, but would this be technically possible?

Thanks,

Hallo!
Can´t open DVB fronted .....

Hey everyone, I want to start off by saying I am completely new to this entire setup. I had our home running on MCE prior to this, but I am thinking there is something better.

My background. I have been using and used to a windows environment pretty much exclusively. This is my first time venturing out of the windows world and I have installed Ubuntu and I am now trying to set up MythTV.

I have the front end and backend installed, but I am stuck at the area where it asks me to install the capture cards. I am used to this stuff getting detected and set up for me, so I really don't understand the details.

I have two tv cards in the computer. One came with it from HP and the second was one I bought later so I could record two things in MCE.

First Card: HP 5189-4605 WinTV HVR-1850
Second Card: - ATI TVWonder 650

Any help to get through this step would be appreciated.

Hello everyone! I installed my MythTV setup about 3 months ago in February 2012, ditching a ReplayTV and Tivo, and I couldn't be happier. While MythTV isn't as "plug and play" as those fixed function boxes, I'm an engineer and like tinkering with the system.

My HW setup consists of a dedicated backend and two dedicated frontends. The backend is a Dell OptiPlex 755/SMT, Core 2 Duo (E8400) 3.00 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD. The video is stored on a Synology DS1010 NAS mounted via NFS.

The frontends are both SHUTTLE XS35GT-V2 PC Barebones with 4GB RAM and a small SSD.

My video source is Comcast through two SiliconDust HDHomerun Prime 3-tuner boxes (a total of 6 tuners).

My wife was very skeptical of this new do-it-yourself DVR, but now she is a total convert and loves it too.
I can't see anything in the log files which indicates some sort of error. Nor is there any information about what's going on during those 16 minutes. The system load spikes to around 2.00 (the server is a dual processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz). I'm currently running v0.25-61 and have the same problem.

Has anyone else seen a similar performance problem after upgrading to 12.04 and v0.25-54?

Can anyone provide some pointers about where I should look to narrow down this performance problem?

Thanks,

Hi Leute,

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/ACPI_Wakeup

Das..
sudo sh -c "echo 0 > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm"

das..
sudo sh -c "echo `date '+%s' -d '+ 5 minutes'` > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm"

und das...
cat /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm

spukt mir das ..
1336585080

und bei dem ..
cat /proc/driver/rtc

sehe ich das..
rtc_time : 17:33:21
rtc_date : 2012-05-09
alrm_time : 17:38:00
batt_status : okay

Meine Uhrzeit liegt 2 Stunden zurück. Wir haben jetzt 19:33 Uhr
Ich weiss UTC - Localtime problem.

Also bin nach folgendem Vorgegangen.

###############################################
Setting alarm when BIOS clock is in localtime ...

The BIOS clock is in localtime, however wakealarm must be given a UTC time.

date -u --date "2008-12-22 10:45:00" +%s

SECS=`date -u --date "2008-12-22 10:45:00" +%s`
echo 0 > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm
echo $SECS > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm

Beim anschießenden Check kam dann folgendes raus
cat /proc/driver/rtc

rtc_time : 17:36:52
rtc_date : 2012-05-09
alrm_time : 17:41:47
periodic_IRQ : no
update_IRQ : no
HPET_emulated : no
BCD : yes
DST_enable : no
periodic_freq : 1024
batt_status : okay

I just installed Myth 0.25 frontend on my laptop, running Ubuntu 12.04. The laptop has a Quadro NVS 140M, which is supported under feature set A for vdpau.

When I try to watch TV or watch a recording, I end up with: VDPAU: Error at mythrender_vdpau.cpp:1539 (#1, Unknown) and it errors out back to the menu. All of my recordings are in HD 1080i (OTA), so I can't play the video without vdpau. I had it working under Ubuntu 9.04 on this laptop.

mythfrontend --version shows it was compiled with vdpau support.

Using the nouveau drivers, as far as I can tell...

Any thoughts?

Hallo Leute,

ERROR: DBBackupDirectory not specified, stopped at ./mythconverg_restore.pl line 773.

Hi all,

I'm planning to build a TBS-DVB-S2 card into my OpenSuse 11.4 / Mythtv 0.24 setup.
The card is able to use Unicable. My question is: Is mythtv? I read some things about patching and building mythtv from source. Is this really still required? I might considder upgrading mythtv to 0.25 if that helps avoiding a recompile.

Any experience here?

Kind regards,

Hi All,

I seem to have a problem that has developed all of a sudden today, and yes there have been no system changes.

I am running MythBuntu 11.10, upgraded to Myth 0.25-80. The hardware config is a Acer Aspire Revo with 4GB of ram.

Today, without warning, my system started playing back video and audio in a very stuttered fashion. The system is configured to use VDPAU/Normal, and has been configured like this for months.

There is no indication in the logs that there is a problem, in fact I note that if I set the system to use Either CPU, then the audio are played OK, but out of Sync. Any suggestions would be welcomed. I am contemplating upgrading to MythBuntu 12.04, but would prefer to avoid that if at all possible.

I have also confirmed that fsck sees no issues on the disk, and that the CPU is not running hot at all.

I look forward to any assistance or insight that can be offered.

possible to make mythtv switch tuner in order to accomplish a channel switch?

Hello,
I installed mythbuntu 11.10 and set up mythtv. I have a dual tuner card: terratec cinergy t pcie dual. It was hard getting it to work properly, but now it is done, :)
My question is about switching channels while seeing live TV. I have observed that mythtv does not accomplish an automatic change of tuner in order to execute a change of channel requested by user. Will explain with an example:
- Tuner 1 is busy recording. I am watching this same recorded channel, in a live TV session.
- if I try to switch to a channel in the same multiplex, no problem, the tuner must not be "touched" and channel change is accomplished. I am still watching something that comes from tuner 1.
- But if I try to change to a channel in a different multiplex the order is not executed by mythtv, even if the second tuner is not in use. To switch channel I have to first switch tuner (there is a live TV menu option to do so) and after, once in the second tuner, switch to the channel I want.

I have activated the option "use for live tv the less probable tuner to be in use by a recording" or something like that. I think that the only thing that makes this option is to use by default the "2nd tuner" when you start a live tv session, while the recordings usually use "1st tuner". Anyway, not sure. Someone able to confirm/correct? Anyway, I think this option does not prevent the situation that I explained before, only makes it less probable.

All in all, it seems to me a weird behaviour more related to hardware concepts than to usability. If there is no option I will live with it, but I am wondering how I am going to explain to my family what a multiplex is and why it is so hard to switch channels...

So my final question is: can I configure it in a way that mythtv switches the tuner automatically to accomplish a change of channel ordered by user?

So I did an upgrade, and now I'm on 0.25, and MythMusic is very, very different. I wasn't paying attention so I didn't see it coming.

I can't find any documentation that really explains how to, you know. DO stuff. I understand everything is a playlist now - that's fine, except... where are all my playlists? After upgrading to 0.25 my "current playlist" is what was in the active play queue before. I can't figure out how to switch between playlists. The Menu->Playlist Options doesn't have a "Load Playlist" option.

I'm trying to figure out how to listen to an actual album - is the only way to do this to create a playlist for that album? That seems cumbersome. I'd give that a shot except I don't know how I'd switch back to a different playlist...

Also, with 0.24 I could use keybindings (linked to my remote control) to switch the Shuffle Mode and Repeat. Can't find any keybindings for these anymore, have to go through the menu. Is there any way to get that back? I don't see those in the music section in Edit Keys.

Anyone have any ideas? I have some non-tech-savvy people using my myth system and I'm looking for simple solutions for them...

and by "headless" I mean no Xorg at all.
grabbed the source and tried to compile it on the server given the gentoo package is rather out of date.

the big problem? The qtwebkit requirement requires X which I rather don't want to install on a machine that's never going to see a GUI.

so i'm wondering if it's even possible do this?
Rather want something to replace win 7 media center (suffice to say it sucks) on the HTPC and would rather have the fileserver run the master backend given it has both lots more storage available to it and it's own UPS.
